I'm going to be working on a new story soon, one that will involve quite a bit of research on sailing and maritime science. Here's the premise:

Fifteen-year-old Devin Landry is less-than thrilled when his mom remarries to a man named Harold Novack. He is even less enthused when he learns that he'll be giving up half of his bedroom to his new brother, Colin. Colin is cute, but he's going into the Seventh Grade, and frankly, he worships the ground his dad walks on just a little too much. But what really takes the cake, is that while Devin's mom and stepfather--He refuses to call the man "Dad"--were on their honeymoon, Harold saw a forty-foot schooner for sale, and decided to buy it. And he's now planning a "Boys' Getaway", a sailing trip in the Pacific to "bond the Novack boys together as a family". (Did anyone ask Devin if he wanted to be a Novack? Nope.) After sailing around Monterey Bay with his dad since the age of seven, Devin can see right away that Harold is hardly a master sailor. In fact, with his initial seasickness, incompetence at all points of navigation, and inability to tie even a simple mooring hitch, Harold might just get all three of them killed. Then, three days out of Guam, the unthinkable happens, and the ship is caught in a typhoon. Harold is struck full in the face by the the swinging boom of the mainsail and knocked overboard, leaving the two boys in a damaged, leaking craft that neither of them is prepared to handle. With no way to call for help, Devin and Colin will have to get over their mutual dislike and learn to depend on one another if they want to survive.

I have a lot of hope riding on this one, and I've ordered a number of books about sailing from the library, to help with my research. I haven't decided yet on a title. If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them. :)
I seem to have a penchant for picking up guys in libraries, LOL. I met this one cute guy at the local library back in mid-May (2016), and we really hit it off. We've been dating since late May/early June, and we're just crazy about each other.

Five facts about my boyfriend:
1. His name is Morgan
2. He likes reading
3. He has long, blonde hair (and really cute toes, lol)
4. He makes me laugh hard enough to almost crack my ribs
5. He's the sweetest, most genuine person I know

Since my 23rd birthday is coming up next month, I've decided to invite him on a trip to Mackinac Island, in Lake Huron, as an early present to myself. I'm sure we'll have lots of fun. ;)

I got to meet his parents and kid brother over Thanksgiving.  The parents were...civil, if not friendly. :p
Morgan's younger brother is a 13 year old cutie named Michael, but Morgan and his older sister Deirdre call him Mickey. He looks like a miniature version of Morgan, but with a lot more blonde curls, lol. When Morgan introduced me, the kid gave me the best hug! :D I can tell he and Morgan really love each other; when I left the house after Thanksgiving dinner, Morgan was asleep on the sofa with Mickey laying on top of him.
A few days later, I spent the night at Morgan's house, and when I woke up, Mickey, who was also sleeping over, had crawled into bed on my other side. At breakfast, he said he wanted to snuggle with his "brother-in-law". *blushes*
I wasn't sure if I should get Mickey something for Christmas, but Morgan said the kid likes water sports. My younger brother got a kayak for his last birthday, but he only used it twice this past summer. *rolls eyes* So, I decided to regift the kayak to Mickey. I also bought a book-themed Christmas ornament for Morgan. *giggles* I can't wait to see the looks on their faces.

Cheese fondue for New Year's Eve, then going to watch the Ball drop downtown. Great way to end the year! And snuggling in bed with Morgan was the perfect way to start the new year! :D

I know it might seem odd to some people, to get married before turning 25. Most guys my age are focused on their job, or studying for college/university. But honestly, I don't have anything else significant going on right now. Morgan and I have been dating for exactly one year, and it just seems right for us to get married, because we have so much in common, and we connect so deeply with each other.

Well, Morgan and I finally got married on June 24th! :D The wedding was just a short and sweet civil union at the courthouse, followed by a lovely reception with my brother-in-law Mickey (now 14 years old) as the best man. :D Both of my men looked so handsome in their suits! From June 28th to July 6th, Morgan and I returned to Mackinac Island for our honeymoon, which was the best nine days of my life. Since we came home, sadly, there have been some issues with the HVAC system, which hasn't been easy to bear with the heat of summer upon us. The utilities are all modern upgrades, but one can only do so much when the house is 100+ years old. :(  Hopefully, we can solve the problem soon, or we'll be sleeping in the guest suite in the basement from now on, LOL.
Oh, and Mickey found himself a "special" friend while Morgan and I were gone, it seems. This person is genderfluid. "They're" called Sam in "boy mode"; Sammi in "girl mode". Apparently the kids have been dating since the start of summer break. I haven't had the opportunity to meet "them" yet, but I'm looking forward to making"their" acquaintance. According to Mickey, "they" look cute both ways, hehehe! I hope they can find happiness together.
Recently, a young man whom I follow on YouTube posted a video, describing how he became depressed, bordering on suicidal, after being verbally and sexually harassed at school. This young man did nothing wrong. He simply tried to be himself, an openly homosexual boy who sometimes likes to wear eyeshadow and lipstick, and for this crime he was bullied and molested until he stopped going to school and started cutting himself. He's feeling a little bit better now, though, thanks to the support and encouragement of his many followers on YouTube, myself included. He's a beautiful boy, and a brave, strong, wonderful person. I have faith that he'll get through this ordeal safely.
If you have any thoughts or feelings of suicide, for any reason, please, get help. Call a friend, a family member, or a local or national help center. Please remember, that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
For assistance, go to:

1 pound asparagus, trimmed
2 tablespoons olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
Juice of 1 lemon, or more, to taste
2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan, or more, to taste

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (204.44 C). Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray.
2. Place asparagus in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet.
3. Add minced garlic, toss with olive oil and lemon juice.
4. Season with salt, pepper, and Parmesan, to taste.
5. Place into oven and roast for 8-10 minutes, or until tender but crisp.

I love reading, writing, drawing, and cooking, in that order. I HAVE taken an art class or two, but I prefer to keep my drawings as a hobby; my REAL work is in storytelling. To see my deviations, look under the Journals page.
